A Great Day Out At Samford.Samford 24 Jul '19 (29)

We had a great day at Samford on Wednesday 24th July with our Arm Bowlers v Non Arms Day.

Brisbane Northside Arm Bowlers Association had 16 Arm Bowlers in attendance for the day.

We had players from 9 different Clubs: Samford, Ferny Hills, Kallangur, Chermside, Glasshouse, Red Hill, Sandgate, Manly and Edithvale Vic

We played 2x4x2 and 3 bowl pairs. The Arm Bowlers lost the 2x4x2 by 6 rinks to 2, but there were some very close matches that came down to the last end.

However, we came back in the 3 bowls pairs with a 4 rinks to 4 draw.

Well done to all who competed and thank-you to Samford Bowls Club for providing such a friendly and enjoyable day.

BNABAi President – Tony Watson with Pamela Bryant from Edithvale Club in Victoria (also Editor of the Armed Bowlers of Australia website)

We enjoyed a lovely sandwich for lunch and it was particularly pleasing for me to catch up with Pamela and John Bryant from Edithvale in Victoria.

BNABAi President Tony Watson with the winners of $50 Fuel Vouchers and our Sponsor for this Tournament Deanna Telfer of Samford Grove.

It was great to see Samford Grove as our major Sponsor for the day and we look forward to working with Deanna and the team in the future.

Our attention will now turn to our next event at Narangba on Sunday 25th August. I look forward to seeing a full green here.

Moreton Bay Regional Council Grant

Arm Grant 1

Steve Shenton (Treasurer Kallangur Mem. Bowls Club), Cr. Denise Sims (Moreton Bay Regional Council) and Tony Watson (President BNABAi) roll the first bowls down with the New Bowling Arms purchased with the successful grant.

Arm Grant

Cr. Denise Sims met with Steve Shenton (Treasurer – Kallangur Mem. B. C.) and Tony Watson (President – BNABAi) on Monday 22nd July to roll down the first bowls with the new arms.

We have a couple more to come that were not in stock and they will be available for Financial Members to use in the near future.

The $1000 grant supplied by MBRC and Cr. Sims was extremely useful in gaining the four new arms for our members.

I would like to thank Cr. Sims and the team at MBRC for their generous contribution and look forward to working with Cr. Sims and MBRC in the future.

Saturday June 15th 2019 saw BNABA travel to Samford to support their Patrons and Presidents Day.

The team was Tony (Ynot) Watson (Laidley), Geoff Inder (Samford), Tony Watson (Kallangur) – President and Bill Baulch (Samford).

We had a very enjoyable lunch and got to talk to many of the other Presidents at this event.

We had a game in the afternoon against a team of Samford Ladies and it was a closely fought match with BNABA snatching victory from the jaws of defeat in the last end by picking up a 5 and winning 23-19.

Nev Cullen was also there from Aspley with the Aspley team. Overall, the day was a great success and it good to catch up with old friends and make new ones on the day.
