PINE RIVERS – 14 Oct ’19

Pine Rivers was our venue for Monday 14th October and it was a great day again. We had 20 players from 9 Clubs competing. Great effort!

Geoff Jordan (Kallangur) and Peter Kanowski (Kallangur) tied with Julie Munro (Pine Rivers) and Doug Bristow (Pine Rivers) for the 2 x 4 x 2 Match with a 2 + 13.Dianne Keogh (Sandgate) and Geoff Hankinson (Chermside) were close behind on 2 + 12. What a tight match.

Julie Munro (Pine Rivers) and Doug Bristow (Pine Rivers) won the 3 Bowls Pairs with 2 + 8 and runners up was a tie between Shirley and Archie Wicks (Pine Rivers) and Geoff Jordan (Kallangur) and Peter Kanowski (Kallangur) with 2 + 7. Again how close was that!!

Overall winners for the day were Julie Munro (Pine Rivers) and Doug Bristow (Pine Rivers) with a 4 + 21 with runner up Geoff Jordan (Kallangur) and Peter Kanowski (Kallangur) with a 4 + 20. Couldn’t get much tighter.

Well done to all who competed and we look forward to seeing you all again at Aspley on Sunday 17th November.

CHERMSIDE – 29 Sep ’19

Our Chermside tournament was a great day with 24 players from 10 Clubs in attendance. We had players from Chermside, Kallangur, Geebung, Gatton, Wynnum, Manly, Aspley, Northern Suburbs, Red Hill and Sandgate. Great effort. Great to see our Ladies numbers growing also with 4 ladies playing this tournament.

Overall Winners were Alex Kinnear (Chermside) and Peter Kanowski (Kallangur) and runners up for the day were Marko Kendes (Northern Suburbs) and Warren Cresdee (Geebung).

Our 2 x 4 x 2 Winners were: Dianne Keogh (Sandgate) and James Hunt (Geebung) and runners up were Alex Kinnear (Chermside) and Peter Kanowski (Kallangur).

3 Bowls Pairs Winners were: Marko Kendes (Northern Suburbs) and Warren Cresdee (Geebung) and runners up were Alex Kinnear (Chermside) and Per Kanowski (Kallangur).

There were 2 Draws and some very close matches, so great effort to all who competed. A special thank-you to Alex, John and Vinnie of Chermside who kindly filled in for some late withdrawals.

We wish Ken Giles wife Lyn, a speedy recovery after a health scare at the game. Get well soon Lyn and we look forward to seeing you at some future games.

NARANGBA – 25 Aug ’19

The Narangba Tournament saw 20 players from 11 Clubs in attendance. We had players from Geebung, Samford, Narangba, Chermside, Kallangur, Red Hill, Glasshouse, Caboolture Lakes, Pine Rivers, Toombul and Scarborough.

The winners of the 2 x 4 x 2 match were Warren Cresdee (Geebung) and Bill Baulch (Samford) with a 2 + 11. Runners up were Bob Meggitt (Narangba) and Tony Watson (Chermside) with 2 + 9.

The winners of the 3 Bowl Pairs were: Glenn Norton (Red Hill) and Warren Blackbourne (Glasshouse) with 2 + 9 and runners up were Bob Meggitt (Narangba) and Tony Watson (Chermside) with 2 + 8.

Overall winners of the day were: Bob Meggitt (Narangba) and Tony Watson (Chermside) 4 + 17 and runners up were Glenn Norton (Red Hill) and Warren Blackbourne (Glasshouse) with 4 + 14.

A GREAT DAY OUT AT SAMFORD – 24 July ’19

Samford 24 Jul '19 (29)

We had a great day at Samford on Wednesday 24th July with our Arm Bowlers v Non Arms Day.

Brisbane Northside Arm Bowlers Association had 16 Arm Bowlers in attendance for the day.

We had players from 9 different Clubs: Samford, Ferny Hills, Kallangur, Chermside, Glasshouse, Red Hill, Sandgate, Manly and Edithvale Vic

We played 2x4x2 and 3 bowl pairs. The Arm Bowlers lost the 2x4x2 by 6 rinks to 2, but there were some very close matches that came down to the last end.

However, we came back in the 3 bowls pairs with a 4 rinks to 4 draw.

Well done to all who competed and thank you to Samford Bowls Club for providing such a friendly and enjoyable day.

Glasshouse Country Bowls Club – Armed Pairs – 9 Jul ’19

Tuesday 9th July saw BNABAi travel to Glasshouse Country Bowls Club for our monthly Tournament.

It was a great day out and some really good bowls were played. We had a small field of 16, but the competition was good and we had players from Samford, Kallangur, Geebung, Glasshouse, Red Hill, Chermside, Narangba, Caloundra, Windsor and Donnybrook playing.

Winners for the day were:

Overall Winners were Glenn Norton (Red Hill) and Warren Blackbourne (Glasshouse) with a 4 + 25 and runners up were Denis O’Toole (Windsor) and Graeme Grant (Caloundra) 4 + 15.

2x4x2 Winners were: Glenn Norton (Red Hill) and Warren Blackbourne Glasshouse) 2 + 21 and runners up were Peter Kanowski (Kallangur) and Geoff Jordan (Kallangur) 2 + 15.

3 Bowls Pairs winners were Denis O’Toole (Windsor) and Graeme Grant (Caloundra) 2 +11 and runners up were Nev Hoey (Donnybrook) and Jack Timms (Glasshouse) 2 + 7.

Kallangur Bowls Club – Sunday 9 Jun ’19

Our June Tournament which was held at Kallangur Memorial Bowls Club on Sunday June 9 was a great success.

We had 20 players in attendance and the weather was great.

Overall winners of the day were Tony Mason (Kallangur) and Trevor Waters (Kallangur) with a 4 +15.

Game 1 (2x4x2) Winners were Greg Birk (Red Hill) and Dee Whitworth (Pine Rivers) with a 2 + 12.

Game 2 (3 Bowls Pairs) Winners were Barry French (Wynnum) and Frank Farrall (Manly).

Well done to all who competed on the day.

Northern Suburbs Bowls Club – Sunday 26 May ’19

“Sunday 26th May saw 28 Arm Bowlers competing from 16 Clubs around Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Laidley and South Brisbane in the Brisbane Northside Arm Bowlers Association tournament held at the Northern Suburbs Bowls Club.

We enjoyed a lovely morning tea of Sandwiches and Coffee and Tea and we look forward to our next Tournament which will be held at the Kallangur B. C. on Sunday 9th June 19.

Game 1: 2x4x2 winners were: Stan Dunbar (Hamilton) and Toby Heathcote (Toombul)with a 2 + 17 and Runners Up were Dianne Keogh (Sandgate) and Doug Bristow (Pine Rivers)

Game 2: 3 Bowl Pairs winners were: Geoff Hankinson (Chermside) and Peter Kanowski (Kallangur) with a 2 + 15 and Runners up were Stan Dunbar (Hamilton) and Toby Heathcote (Toombul) with a 2 + 14.’

Our overall winners were Stan Dunbar (Hamilton) and Toby Heathcote (Toombul) with a 4 + 31.

Runner up was Geoff Hankinson (Chermside) and Peter Kanowski (Kallangur) with a 4 + 19.

Laidley Bowls Club – Monday 6th May ’19

Laidley hosted a MABA day on Monday 6th May and as usual it turned out to be a “beautiful sunny day”. Competition was in the 3 bowl triples format over 2 games, punctuated by a brilliant lunch prepared and served up in traditional Laidley hospitality, by its members. About 40 Armed Bowlers attended. The sponsors of the day were: Somerset Funerals. Winners of the Day were: Ross Knight and Glenn Norton pictured below with Pres. of BNABA Tony Watson, the other Tony Watson (Ynot) and Peter Whelan.
